Univision announced that they will throw their hat into the ring that is streaming services. It will be the first streaming service to be Spanish-based. They announced that the service will be free and ad-supported. They plan on starting with around 10,000 hours of content ranging from telenovelas to comedies to sports. The service will be called PrendeTV meaning switch/turn on.
“With the launch of PrendeTV we are focused on bringing new ways for our advertisers to reach the U.S. Hispanic audience and, importantly, PrendeTV will be a critical part of our strategy to grow the scope of our business partnerships with our key distributors,” said the CEO of Univision Wade Davis.
