‘Black-ish’ Is Saying Goodbye After Its 8 Season Long Run

‘Black-ish’ was just renewed for its 8th season which will unfortunately also function as its last. This series that started back in 2014 has produced and aired 150+ episodes and has had a profound impact. The series stars Anthony Anderson (Andre “Dre” Johnson), Tracee Ellis Ross (Rainbow Johnson), Yara Shahidi (Zoey Johnson), Marcus Scribner (Andre Johnson Jr.), Miles Brown (Jack Johnson), Marsai Martin (Diane Johnson), Laurence Fishburne (Pops), Jenifer Lewis (Ruby), Peter Mackenzie (Mr. Stevens), Deon Cole (Charlie Telphy), Jeff Meacham (Josh), and Katlyn Nichol (Olivia). Nominated for 19+ Emmy’s including ‘Best Comedy’, this wildly successful series went so far as two give way to multiple spinoffs. Both ‘Grown-ish’ and ‘Mix-ish’ have found success and take a deeper dive into the Johnson family.

Creator of the series, Kenya Barris said this about the big announcement: “To ALL the people in the world I love, honor, respect and care for it is both exciting and bittersweet to share that black-ish been RENEWED by ABC for its EIGHTH… and FINAL SEASON,” she said. “In this day and age it is rare to get to decide when your show should come to an end, and we are grateful along with ABC to be able to make this final season exactly what we’d hoped for – and to do it with the entire and AMAZINGLY STELLAR cast coming back to close this chapter out with us the right way!” Despite the end of this series, its legacy will live on and continue making way for series like it in the future.
