As we are a year into the pandemic, many major events are considering being in-person once again including Comic-Con. The largest comic convention in the world and is based in San Diego. Earlier this year they announced that the 10,000+ person event would be held virtually in July. BUT, they also released a statement saying that there would be a ‘special edition’ of the convention that would be in-person during Thanksgiving week. The huge in-person convention that fans are used to, will have to wait until 2022.
In their statement, they said “It is our hope that by Fall conditions will permit larger public gatherings,” and that “Comic-Con Special Edition will be the first in-person convention produced by the organization since Comic-Con 2019, and the first since the onset of the global pandemic COVID-19. The Fall event will allow the organization to highlight all the great elements that make Comic-Con such a popular event each year, as well as generate much needed revenue not only for the organization but also for local businesses and the community.”
