Taye Diggs is once again is hosting the 2021 Critics Choice, his third year in a row and in-person! Before we get into the cuteness, we have to recognize some fabulous performances. Maria Bakalova accepted her first Critics Choice award for best-supporting actress for her work in She spoke about how she was in disbelief someone from Bulgaria was accepting the award. From TV, ‘The Crown’ came out swinging with Gillian Anderson, Josh O’Connor and Emma Corrin all winning awards for the royal Netflix series. Of course, the insanely talented Anya Taylor-Joy didn’t leave empty-handed, winning for best actress in a limited series.
Now onto the most precious winner of the night, Alan Kim. Kim, 8, won for Best Young Actor/Actress. No doubt this win was hard-earned, his performance in ‘Minari’ capturing the hearts of many. The film following the story of a Korean-American family finding their version of the American Dream in Arkansas. When Kim won, he broke down in tears as he accepted his award, not leaving a dry eye amongst viewers.
