‘It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia’ has been picked up for 4 more seasons, extending through their 18th season. With this addition it becomes the longest-running live-action scripted comedy. It beats out ‘Ozzie and Harriet’ that aired for 14 seasons. This was one of the multiple announcements made at the Disney day investors meeting on Thursday.
Both FX CEO, John Landgraf, and producers of the show have made it clear that their intentions are to continue the show as long as they can. “We’re going to keep doing it forever if people keep watching,” said Rob McElhenney who both created and stars in the comedy.
