Akira Kurosawa thriller ‘Rashomon’ announced two years ago that they would be adapting the film into a series. Since then, they have been searching for a streaming network. HBO Max has swooped in and picked up the series. The series has also found it’s writers, including Billy Ray and Virgil Williams. They are planning on taking this 1950’s film and update it to fit the current time.
The show will focus on a sexual assult, murder mystery. The series will be told from contrasting character perspectives of the events. One of the executive producers on the show, Frank Falvey said this about the project, “Akira Kurosawa’s masterpiece was not just a murder mystery; it was a revolution in storytelling, as cinema’s most impactful and influential early exploration of subjective points of view and flawed narration.”
