Anna Faris decided to leave the show days before it started filming. The production was already delayed because of COVID-19. Anna Faris’ character Christy plays a key role in the series. It’s unclear how the show will address her character’s exit, but it will be explained in the first episode. Faris said this about her exit, “I’m so thankful to Chuck, the writers, and my amazing cast-mates for creating a truly wonderful work experience. While my journey as Christy has come to an end, allowing me to pursue new opportunities, I’ll be watching next season and rooting for my TV family.”
Following the end of season 6 of ‘Mom’ the show was renewed for two more seasons. Therefore, this eighth upcoming season will finish up that renewal contract. Without Faris, this may be the final season for the show. ‘Mom’ is produced by Chuck Lorre Productions and Warner Bros. Television.
