The athlete and activist is teaming with Ava DuVernay for the upcoming scripted limited drama ‘Colin in Black & White’.
The six-episode series is set to focus on Colin Kaepernick’s adolescent years, and the high school experiences that led him to become the activist that he is today. The show was conceived in 2019, and the script was just finished this May. Michael Starrbury has written the script, and he will serve as executive producer along with DuVernay and Kaepernick.
“With his act of protest, Colin Kaepernick ignited a national conversation about race and justice with far-reaching consequences for football, culture and for him, personally,” said DuVernay. “Colin’s story has much to say about identity, sports and the enduring spirit of protest and resilience. I couldn’t be happier than to tell this story with the team at Netflix.”
