Reprisal: TV Review

The end of the pilot ultimately left me with more questions than answers, and though I was hopeful that the remainder of the 10-episode season would be able to work itself out into a coherent narrative, the first episode left me so perplexed that it seemed daunting to even try to make it that far.

This show is one that screams GIRL POWER every chance it gets and is uplifting while also being cynical and realistic in the funniest possible way while the characters learn to juggle the importance of what it means to have and maintain female friendships.

While the show’s visuals and situations can sometimes seem explicit to the point of being unnecessary, the story successfully approaches usually taboo topics like the hormonal highs and lows of the early teenage years in a comedic and empathetic way. 

The Politician: TV Review

Despite very stylized, theatrical writing and a seemingly deliberately unrealistic portrayal of modern teenage life, Netflix’s newest original series The Politician is an entertaining dark-comedy that offers a look into high school politics and what it’s like to grow up in the pressures of a society riddled by social media and constant competition.
