While I believe that Insatiable may have had good intentions to begin with, it ultimately made enough bad narrative choices and poorly timed jokes to prove that those who started cancellation petitions before the show even aired were mostly correct.
While the show’s visuals and situations can sometimes seem explicit to the point of being unnecessary, the story successfully approaches usually taboo topics like the hormonal highs and lows of the early teenage years in a comedic and empathetic way.
Despite very stylized, theatrical writing and a seemingly deliberately unrealistic portrayal of modern teenage life, Netflix’s newest original series The Politician is an entertaining dark-comedy that offers a look into high school politics and what it’s like to grow up in the pressures of a society riddled by social media and constant competition.
