HBO has announced the cast of its Los Angeles Lakers basketball drama! Adam McKay will executive produce and direct the series, which chronicles the team’s rise to fame.
The untitled series is based on Jeff Peralman’s book Showtime: Magic, Karee, Riley, and the Los Angeles Laker’s Dynasty of the 1980s. Jason Clarke (Zero Dark Thrity) will portray Lakers phenomenon Jerry West, while Hollywood newcomer Quincy Isaiah will portray Ervin “Magic” Johnson.
Also on the cast list are John C. Reilly, who will play Lakers owner Jerry Buss, and former Harlem Globe-Trotter Solomon Hughes, who will portray Lakers center Abdul-Jabbar.
