Disney+ announced that it is going to be creating a reboot for ‘Doogie Howser’ titled ‘Doogie Kameāloha’. Disney+ has found its lead for the reboot in Peyton Elizabeth Lee who is best known for her work on ‘Andy Mack’. The show was first picked up in September and while there is no set official premiere date, it will come to the platform sometime this year.
The reboot is set in Hawaii where Lahela “Doogie” Kameāloha puts on her medical coat as the 16-year-old maneuvers her way through teen life and starts a medical career. The series will also dive into Doogie’s family, with her Irish mother who works at the local high school and her father who struggles to let his little girl grow up. Jake Kasdan, Melvin Mar. Bochco’s widow, Dayna, and son Jesse are executive producers on the show.
