Disney is currently going through a reconstruction which has resulted in the shut down of the US Radio Disney and Radio Disney Country. Its important to note that the Radio Disney in Latin America will not be shutting down and is separate from the US Radio Disney. The announcement was made Thursday by Gary Marsh who the president of Disney Branded Television. This decision by Disney will force layoffs for 36 part and full time employees. 

Radio Disney was first launched in 1996 with Radio Disney County launching in 2015. At its peak, the station had 23 channels under it. Since then, Radio Disney sold 22 of their channels and switched to satellite/digital streaming. It’s final station was based in LA, KRDC-AM. Radio Disney and Radio Disney Country helped shape the careers of Disney stars Miley Cyrus, Selena Gomez, and Demi Lovato. The station will be officially sold in 2021.
