Seth MacFarlane and Danny McBride are working together to create a ‘Smokey and the Bandit’ television series. David Gordon Green and Brian Sides will co-write the series. The series is inspired by the 70’s and 80’s and movies during those eras. “Growing up in the South, Smokey and the Bandit was an iconic franchise for me. The legacy of these characters is a playground of swagger and sass that I’m excited to dig into,” said Texas-raised screenwriter, David Gordan Green.
The original ‘Smokey and the Bandit’ movie was a smash hit for Universal in 1977. With a budget of 4.3 million, the movie was the second-largest grossing movie in 1977. The series is not attached to a network yet.
