‘The Prom’ directed by Ryan Murphy has announced it’s release date on Netflix. It will premiere on the streaming service on December 11th. This film is adapted from the 2016 broadway musical and the book that followed in 2019. The film follows Emma, a high-schooler living in Indiana. She wants to bring her girlfriend to her prom but when the couple is banned from coming, they have to figure out how to push back against the injustices in their hometown.
This star-studded cast includes Meryl Streep, James Cordon, Nicole Kidman, Keegan-Michael Key, Kerry Washington, and more. The director, Ryan Murphy had this to say about the film, “It’s truly an original that celebrates the underdog and says in a loving spectacular way that LGBTQ rights are human rights. I feel a special connection to it because it’s set in Indiana, and that’s where I grew up, too”.
