An episode of the 1988 series where the characters are mistaken for doing blackface has been removed by Hulu in light of the Black Lives Matter movement, specifically in the entertainment industry.
The episode, titled “Mixed Feelings” depicts one of the characters’ sons wanting to marry a Black woman. The two families try and attempt to end the marriage out of their own interests. When meeting the Black woman’s family, the main characters show up with mud masks on their faces saying that, “This is mud on our faces, we’re not really Black.”
Hulu still has yet to comment on the removal of the episode.
