Although the main awards show is set for September 20th, the “discussions regarding the format and production” are still in occurrence.
The Creative Arts Emmys celebrations generally take place one week before the regular Emmys awards. This year, as a direct result of the coronavirus pandemic, the Creative Arts Emmys will be covered “over several nights in September,” according to the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences. Although the date is set for the main Emmys awards, audiences are still unsure whether the dates previously announced for the Creative Arts Emmys- September 12th and 13th- are set in stone.
Additionally, there will be no Governors Ball after either Emmys events this year. This has been described by the Academy as “a precautionary measure to protect the health and safety of Emmy winners, nominees and guests during the uncertainty caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.”
