Netflix Launches Black Lives Matter Collection

Netflix is using their platform to help U.S. subscribers to better understand how racial bias affects the lives of Black Americans. They have added a film collection with that highlights various experiences black American face. Some films include Mudhound, Orange is the New Black, and When They See Us.

Netflix made a statement about the Black Lives Matter movement in a tweet saying “When we say ‘Black Lives Matter’, we also mean ‘Black storytelling matters’. With an understanding that our commitment to true, systemic change will take time- we’re starting by highlighting powerful and complex narratives about the Black experience.” Big companies like Netflix using their platform to aid the Black Lives Matter movement gives hope for a brighter future for those affected by systemic racism.
