Based on Tom Wolfe’s novel, the drama series will make its debut in autumn of 2020.
After initially being greenlit by the National Geographic Channel, ‘The Right Stuff’ will arrive on Disney+ in the fall. As several of the new streamer’s other originals are delayed, the series will help Disney+ to meet its content pipeline. It is based off of Wolfe’s novel about the “Mercury 7” astronauts.
Courteney Monroe, president of the National Geographic Global Television Networks, said today in a statement: “This true story of scientific innovation and human perseverance could not be more timely. National Geographic’s ‘The Right Stuff’ is an aspirational story about exploration, ambition, determination and resilience and reminds us that human beings can achieve the extraordinary when united by a common purpose. This series provides a compelling behind-the-scenes look at the flawed, but heroic Mercury 7 astronauts, and we are thrilled that it has found its perfect home on Disney+.”
The cast of ‘The Right Stuff’ includes Danny Strong, Zora Zehetner, Eloise Mumford, Shannon Lucio, and Patrick Fischler. An exact premiere date has not yet been set.
