YouTube has brought an end to its latest sci-fi series, confirming the platform’s drift away from scripted originals.
‘Impulse’ was developed by Jeffrey Lieber and was based off of the novel by Steven Goud. It is centered around a young girl with botched teleportation powers. Yesterday, showrunner Lauren LeFranc announced the news on Twitter. “There are challenges that come with being a on a new, fairly unknown streamer, especially given how chock-full the TV landscape is with well-known properties and fantastical worlds,” she commented.
After the cancellation of ‘Impulse’, ‘Cobra Kai’ and ‘Liza on Demand’ are YouTube’s only remaining scripted shows. Since spring of 2019, four other scripted originals have been promptly cancelled or else moved to another streaming service.
