Octavia Spencer’s ‘Truth Be Told’ was initially planned to be a limited series, but after positive reviews, Apple TV+ has decided to renew it with Spencer as its star and executive producer.
Season two is said to be about Spencer’s character’s double career as a podcaster and investigator. Diverting away from the first season’s crime, there will now be a new case for the audience to partake in. It will continue on with its theme on America’s fixation on true-crime podcasts and the consequences of the interests in them.
The first season was inspired by Kathleen Barber’s novel, ‘Are You Sleeping’. It takes elements from the story, such as a woman reopening a murder after realizing that she may have been one of the reasons for putting a man who is innocent in jail.
