Kingsley Ben-Adir of ‘The OA’ is set to play former president Barack Obama in a CBS Studios miniseries, whereas Clive Owen of ‘The Hire’ will play impeached president Bill Clinton in FX’s ‘American Crime Story’.
Based off of the seventh FBI director, James Comey’s bestseller, ‘A Higher Royalty’, the CBS miniseries will focus on the secrecy of the United States government and the past presidential campaigns. Alongside Ben-Adir will be Jeff Daniels in the role of Comey, Brendan Gleeson acting as Donald Trump, and Peter Coyote as Robert Mueller.
The CBS miniseries is still in production.
The third season of ‘American Crime Story’ will focus on Clinton’s impeachment through the eyes of three women: Monica Lewinsky, Linda Tripp, and Paula Jones. Lewinsky is played by Beanie Feldstein, whereas Linda Tripp and Paula Jones will be played by Sarah Paulson and Annaleigh Ashford, respectively. Lewinsky herself will be credited as a producer on the series.
The famed FX show will begin production in the spring, aiming for a fall premiere.
