As of yesterday, Gina Carano, the Mandelorian star, is “not currently employed by LucasFilm” following her sharing of some disturbing social media posts. United Talent Agency (or UTA) has also dropped Carano.
Carano took to Instagram Tuesday night, releasing a statement that compared the treatment of Republicans today to the Jews of Nazi Germany.
“Because history is edited,” it said, “most people today don’t realize that to get to the point where Nazi soldiers could easily round up thousands of Jews, the government first made their own neighbors hate them simply for being Jews. How is that any different from hating someone for their political views.”
This isn’t the first time that Carano’s incited controversy. She was criticized for mocking those who specify pronouns on social media when she changed her Twitter bio to “beep/bop/boop”— a statement which she later removed.
“Her social media posts denigrating people based on their cultural and religious identities are abhorrent and unacceptable,” a LucasFilm spokesperson said yesterday.
