Amongst the many TV and film events being affected by the coronavirus pandemic, the summer TV Critics press tour is one of the newest to be cancelled.
Initially planned to run from July 28th to August 13th in Pasadena, CA, the TV Critics Association was to see the scores of networks, as well as select streamers that would show various programmings in front of 200 press corporation members. At this time, the TCA is currently searching for online alternatives.
The TV Critics Association’s letter detailing the cancellation is as follows:
“Dear TCA Members,
We are sad to announce that the 2020 TCA Summer press tour is canceled.
The board members are working with the networks to explore virtual alternatives both within the original press tour time frame and later in 2020. But, given the current state of television production, as of now, this is a cancellation not a postponement.
We will be back to you as soon as possible with potential options from individual networks and with information about the TCA Awards.”
