Much to the delight for fans of Leslie Knope, the famed comedy ‘Parks and Recreation’ is coming back to NBC for a half-hour special featuring the original cast. The special will premiere on April 30 to raise awareness for Feeding America’s COVID-19 Response Fund.
The ‘Parks and Recreation’ special will follow Knope (Amy Poehler) as she struggles to connect with her co-workers during this time of social distancing. Reuniting alongside Poehler are Rashida Jones, Aziz Ansari, Nick Offerman, Aubrey Plaza, Chris Pratt, Adam Scott, Rob Lowe, Jim O’Heir, and Retta.
The show’s creator, Michael Schur, stated that one of the biggest opportunities to help out those affected by COVID-19 was to bring “these characters back for a night” in order to raise money. Matching donations of $150,000 will be done by Sponsors State Farm and Subaru in collaboration with NBCUniversal. The proposed set of matching donations if said to be $500,000.
