‘Fargo’ Release Date Pushed Back Due to to Coronavirus Pandemic

With two episodes still left to shoot, the Chicago-based drama series has been forced to delay its premiere.

‘Fargo’ is set in 1950’s Kansas city, and centers around a major crime family (the head of which is played by Chris Rock). The series was set to premiere its first two episodes on April 19th, followed by eight weekly installments from that point onward. However, on Thursday, the network announced that it would be stopping production of the series due to the ongoing Coronavirus pandemic.

Unfortunately, this delay will likely mean that ‘Fargo’ is not going to make the cutoff for Emmy nominations. In order for a show to be considered for an Emmy this year, it will have to have aired 150 minutes by May 31st. Although ‘Fargo’ was previously considered a strong contender, the delay in production has probably pushed its airing date to autumn, far outside of the voting window.
