Hulu has finally landed rights to the beloved 1998 coming-of-age novel.
Disney-owned streaming service Hulu has just announced that they obtained rights to Judy Blume’s ‘Summer Sisters’ after a bidding war between several different outlets. ‘Summer Sisters’ tells the story of the friendship of two best friends over the years, and fans have long been begging Judy Blume to adapt it for film or television. This is the second book written by Blume to be adapted for the screen, following ABC’s adaptation of ‘Fudge’ in the 90’s.
The limited series will be written and executive produced by Liz Tigelaar. Judy Blume and Stacey Silverman will also be executive producing the show. ‘Summer Sisters’ is currently in the development stage and a release date has not yet been announced.
