Creator Of ‘Lizzie McGuire’ Quits Role As Showrunner On Reboot

Just as Disney+ had been working on its newest reboot, the creator of the original show quit as being showrunner for this show.

“Fans have a sentimental attachment to ‘Lizzie McGuire’ and high expectations for a new series. After filming two episodes, we concluded that we need to move in a different creative direction and are putting a new lens on the show,” a Disney spokesperson said in a statement to Deadline.

The reboot follows Hillary Duff as 30-year-old LIzzie chasing her dreams in New York City. With these resignation complications, the release date is unknown and the production will start next week.
