The Audience television network, owned by AT&T, is evolving into becoming a preview channel for the upcoming broadcasting service, HBO Max.
With the rapidly rising number of people switching from watching their favorite shows broadcasted on Television to now streaming from subscription media-service providers has influenced many television broadcasters to make the switch as well. HBO Max is WarnerMedia’s current biggest and most important project and is launching this May. The current staff for The Audience was just informed by this movement today, and a number of employees may be affected.
“We will begin to transition Audience Network from its current approach to support AT&T’s broader original content and marketing focus on the upcoming HBO Max service,” said Daniel York, chief content officer, “Twenty years ago we were the first pay TV provider to differentiate our content offering with the best exclusive original content, and the team truly brought to life the network vision: Always Original, Never Ordinary”
