There were a lot of big announcements this year at ComiCon’s 50th anniversary- you can catch up here with TV Wasteland’s Ultra Guide.
The Walking Dead
- ‘Fear the Walking Dead’ was renewed for season 6
- ‘The Walking Dead’ season 10 revealed its launch date: October 6!
- Danai Gurira confirmed her exit from the series
- Season 10 trailer was revealed for ‘The Walking Dead’ (shown below)
- The full cast set for ‘The Walking Dead’ spinoff. Aliyah Royale and Annet Mahendru will join the previously announced cast.
Veronica Mars
- The revival premiered early on Hulu due to Kristen Bell telling the audience that that’s what she wanted for her birthday
The Witcher
- The highly anticipated Netflix series released its first teaser trailer. In just its first two days its surpassed 11 million views!
The Boys
- The Amazon Prime original has been renewed ahead of the season 1 premiere
- Aya Cash (You’re the Worst) announced she will be joining the cast for season 2 as the character Stormfront, and she’s already been filming for a month
Archer
- The FXX original has been renewed for Season 11
Game of Thrones
- Celebrating its final season, cast members shared their reactions to that divisive finale. Nikolaj Coster-Waldau shared that his opinion on the fan backlash, saying “It comes to an end [and] it’s gonna piss you off no matter what because it’s the end. If you hated the ending, if you loved the ending, that’s great, just don’t call people names.” The audience booed after the statement.

Star Trek
- David Ajala will join season 3 of CBS All Access’s ‘Star Trek: Discovery’
- ‘Star Trek: Discovery’ will jump 1,000 years into the future- but don’t worry, Exeuctive Producer Alex Kurtzman says they’re “not erasing anything”
- The animated series ‘Star Trek: Lower Decks” revealed its cast: Tawny Newsome, Jack Quaid, Noel Wells, Eugene Cordero, Fred Tatasciore, Dawnn Lewis, Gillian Vigman.
- The modertaor described the animated series as “the downtown abbey of Star Trek”
- ‘Star Trek: Picard’ unveiled the cast that will be joining Sir Patrick Stewart, incuding Brent Spiner, Jonathan Del Arco, Jonathan Frakes and Jeri Ryan
- The ‘Star Trek: Picard’ trailer was released (shown below)
Westworld
- HBO has kept details about the third installment of the series under wraps, but they released a trailer this weekend in San Diego
The Orville
- The Seth McFarlane comedy will be moving to Hulu from FOX for season 3
Watchmen
- The HBO hero series released its first trailer (shown below)
The Man In The High Castle
- The Amazon original showed the first two minutes of season 4, picking up right where we left off last time
- The launch date has been announced: November 15!
NOS4A2
- AMC Vampire series ‘NOS4A2’ will return for season 2
Marvel
- ‘The Eternals’ film will star Angelina Jolie, Salma Hayek, Don Lee, Lia McHugh, Kumail Nanjiani, Brian Tyree Henry, Lauren Ridloff and Richard Madden with a release date of November 6, 2020
- ‘Shang-Chi And the Legend of the Ten Rings’ will star Simu Liu, Awkwafina, and Tony Leung. Shang-Chi will fight against the Ten Rings organization that was first introduced in the Iron Man franchise
- ‘Doctor Strange In The Multiverse Of Madness’ will be Marvel’s first horror movie, and will feature Benedict Cumberbatch and Elizabeth Olson. According to the panel, Olson’s new Disney+ series ‘WandaVision’ will play into the new film
- The Black Widow Standalone Film will feature Scarlett Johansson, David Harbour, Florence Pugh, O-T Fagbenle and Rachel Weisz, and debut May 1, 2020
- The fourth installment of Thor is coming, titled ‘Thor: Love and Thunder’ and will feature a female Thor played by Natalie Portman!!
- Mahershala Ali will star in a reboot of ‘Blade’
- Additionally, official announcements were made about new series coming to Disney+ including ‘WandaVision’, ‘Loki’, ‘Hawkeye’, ‘What If…’ and ‘The Falcon and the Winter Solider’. Whew.
DC
- ‘Doom Patrol’ has been renewed for season 2
- ‘Titans’ will return for season 2 on September 6
Riverdale
- Riverdale will do a tribute to Luke Perry in the upcoming season, and has cast Shannen Doherty, who was part of the ‘90210’ cast along with Perry in the 1990’s
- They also shared their annual blooper roll (shown below)
