We chatted with ‘the Bachelorette’ couple Jojo and Jordan about their upoming real estate show ‘Cash Pad’ on CNBC.
“How did you pivot from starring in dating shows like ‘The Bachelor’ and ‘The Bachleorette’ to working in realty?”
Jojo: “I’ve always done this and my background is in real estate development so for the past ten years I’ve focused on long term rentals but when Jordan and I got together it was this influx of short term rentals, like Airbnb, was really up and coming. We sort of put it together that I have experience and he’s definitely an entreprenauer/businessman to his core.
Jordan: “I’m her free labor. I show up, do a lot of work, and she doesn’t have to pay me.”
Jojo: “We had this idea really tapping into the vacation rental market and CNBC approached us with the same sort of idea so it was perfect timing and a perfect blend of two things that wanted to do the same thing.”
“The real estate in Texas [where Fletcher originates] is very different from California, so where is ‘Cash Pad’ going to be focused?”
Jordan: “We did two properties in Dallas, four properties in Austin, and two properties in Phoenix, so if these keeps going we’ll be going all over the country and trying to hit popular cities that are big tourist attractions. We started in Texas because we know Dallas and Austin really well and we’re going to continue to branch out from there.
Jojo: “The cool thing about what we do is we partner with homeowners that already have property, so our investment is really on the renovation side. We really just come in and we renovate their spaces and make a partnership and hopefully we’ll profit from it.”
“When you went on the Bachelorette did you plan on going into realty later?”
Jojo: “I’ve always been in real estate development and I think that’s something that people don’t really know about my background. It’s always been something that I do but this short term rental thing is a business that we’ve [her and Jordan] started together just in the last year. I never expected it to be a tv show but it’s kind of cool that we get to do this and share it with people.”
‘Cash Pad’ premieres July 23 on CNBC.
